“I went to a fortune teller and heard nothing but nonsense. When she was right, I came back to thank her”

“Suddenly an older woman grabbed my hand. I was terrified because I thought she was a thief, but it quickly turned out that it was nothing like that. The woman was about forty and said that she was from the crowd. people noticed me and would like to exchange a few words, because she is a fortune teller,” says Mrs. Marta, who agreed to a short conversation. Only later did she realize that it was not an ordinary conversation.

Fortune telling has been around for centuries. While not the most popular way to gain insight into the future, many people still practice it and believe in predictions. For some people, it is a way to relax and it is also a hobby that is treated with a pinch of salt. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with that. However, there are cases when some people completely entrust their decisions to the cards and what the fortune teller said. There are also those who laugh at it and then rub their eyes in surprise. How many people, so many stories, but the story of our reader, Mrs. Marta, shows that sometimes things happen that simply cannot be predicted.

“When we were walking along the Sopot promenade, an older woman suddenly grabbed my hand. I was terrified.”

“If someone had ever told me that I would go to a fortune teller, I would have laughed at them. I believe in God and I have quite controversial views, so it all came together for me. Well, but now I know to never say never.

A few years ago, in 2013 to be precise, my husband and I went on holiday to Władysławowo with our children. It was a long-awaited vacation, so I was happy like never before. During our two-week stay at the seaside, we decided that we would also go to Sopot. This place has always been associated with luxury and expensiveness, but I wanted to show my sons this famous pier and the Forest Opera. When we were walking along the Sopot promenade, an older woman suddenly grabbed my hand. I was scared because I thought she was a thief, but it quickly turned out that it was nothing like that. The woman was about forty and said that she noticed me out of the crowd and would be happy to exchange a few words. I asked what she meant and she then replied that she was a fortune teller and she just needed to talk to me. I thought I had nothing to lose and I agreed. My husband went to the beach with the children, and I had a moment just for myself.

“I felt like she wanted to test the waters, but I was careful. When we started, she started talking nothing but nonsense.”

The fortune teller was very gentle and I didn’t feel embarrassed. She asked if I wanted to go with her to the apartment, but when she saw the confusion on my face, she didn’t insist and took me to her plot, which was located near the Forest Opera. We had a good conversation along the way. I felt like he wanted to test the waters, but I was cautious. When we started, she started talking nonsense. And this is the child’s illness, a sudden change of residence, then problems at work, and finally the death of my father. I took it all with a pinch of salt. In fact, after an hour I was back at my boys’ place. When, after a year, my son got sick and I immediately lost my job, I remembered the fortune teller’s words not to break down. A few months later, as a result of mass layoffs, I lost my job and a fire broke out in our house. I knew then that this woman was right. I felt that this last prophecy would also come true. Half a year later, after a difficult fight against illness, my father passed away. All the woman’s prophecies came true. I’ve been afraid of fairies ever since.

A few years later, when we were on vacation at the seaside, I decided to go to Sopot to check if the woman was still in office. To my surprise, it still worked. I thanked her for everything and told her that she had a valuable gift, but that she no longer wanted to know anything. This is my last encounter with such matters. I’d rather not know and sleep peacefully.”

Marta.
