It cannot be denied that the preselections for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest aroused many extreme emotions from the very beginning. As many as 200 people submitted their candidacies for the Polish Television, which is the organizer, including stars such as: Krystyna Prońko, , Edyta Górniak and Natasza Urbańska.
Luna won the preselection for Eurovision 2024. Internet users rail against the commission appointed by TVP
In previous years, viewers decided to choose the representative for Eurovision by sending votes for their favorite artist. This time, TVP decided to change the way of selecting the best voice by appointing a special commission to assess the chances of individual candidates. It consisted of five people: music journalist Piotr Klatt, music director of Radio Zet, Łukasz Pieter, Radio Eska journalist Michał Hanczak, singer Kasia Moś and the president of the Association of Eurovision Song Contest Fans, Konrad Szczęsny.
It is no secret that for a long time Justyna Steczkowska was considered the biggest favorite to win, and she recorded the song “Witch-er Tarohoro” especially for this occasion. Ultimately, it is not her, but the young artist who will go to the Swedish city of Malmo with the song “The Tower” to represent Poland before the European audience. The choice caused quite a surprise and divided public opinion, especially since the 25-year-old won only one vote more than her much more experienced colleague.
Wiśniewski speaks sharply about this year’s Eurovision preselections. He appealed to TVP
, who took part in Eurovision with his band 21 years ago and took 7th place, also did not hide his outrage at the commission’s decision. Shortly after announcing this year’s representative, he went live on Instagram for fans to comment on the whole situation. He did not hide the fact that he had great emotions and did not support this choice. He said that viewers should decide who they want to vote for and who they will support during the competition. – Why should a music journalist choose the person who will go to Eurovision? It makes absolutely no sense and is stupid. I also understand Kasia Moś, because she took part in Eurovision, but the others? – vocalist.
After a while, he added that if the commission consisted of a larger number of people, it would be much more fair and then he would have no objections, but he could not agree with the decision that was made on behalf of the Poles by only five people. – I also understand that it should be, for example, a thousand people and people of different sexes and different ages, but certainly not a group of 5 people. It is people who later decide on the choice and this is how it should be in pre-selections. Now that’s stupid. It’s not fair, it shouldn’t be done this way – he thundered indignantly, appealing to TVP to restore the old rules and methods of selecting a candidate.
