There were no official pre-selections for Eurovision this year, and the selection was made by a five-person jury, including: Kasia Moś, Piotr Klatt, Michał Hanczak, Konrad Szczęsny and Łukasz Pieter. On Monday, February 19, it was announced that Aleksandra Wielgomas, who operates on the music market under the pseudonym Luna, will be the Polish representative.
The Eurovision frenzy is still ahead of us, but bookmakers already have their picks!
The jurors chose among ten proposals and gave them points on a scale from 1 to 10. It turned out that Luna’s song “The Tower” received 34 points, and Justyna Steczkowska with her song “WITCH-ER Tarohoro” received only one point less. . In turn, Marcin Maciejczak and Dagadana and Kayah took third place with the same result with the song “Jesień – Tańcuj”, which was created for the film “Chłopi”.
As every year, the Eurovision Song Contest is of interest not only to the biggest fans of the event, but also to bookmakers who constantly monitor the latest news. After Luna was announced as the representative, according to the latest rankings, Poland is in 21st place out of 37 countries. This is not good news, because before the information about Luna was announced, our country was six positions higher.
At the moment, the biggest favorites in the fight to win this year’s Eurovision, according to bookmakers, are: Ukraine, Great Britain, Italy, Israel and Sweden. In addition, Belgium, Croatia and Iceland can also count on a high position in the ranking.
However, bookmakers’ quotations do not take into account that two semi-finals must take place first. Due to this and the fact that we do not know what all the other proposals are, it is impossible to really assess what chances Luna has in the fight. However, we are almost sure that he will reach the finals of the competition!
