Lubomierz is one of the smallest and oldest cities in Lower Silesia. Its origins date back to the 12th century. The city received city rights in 1291. For nearly 600 years it was the property of the Benedictine nuns. In the 15th century, Lubomierz was destroyed by the Hussites, but its medieval layout has been preserved to this day. It was also untouched by destruction during World War II. In 1945, it was incorporated into Poland. According to Central Statistical Office data from January 1, 2023, 1,759 people lived in the city.
One of the oldest cities in Lower Silesia is a treat for fans of “Samy their own”. This is where the movie was shot
Today, Lubomierz attracts not only tourists heading to the nearby Jizera Mountains. It is primarily a mecca for fans of Sylwester Chęciński’s trilogy. The filming of “Sami swoi”, “Nie ma mocch” and “Kochaj albo ślich” was shot in Lubomierz. In 1995, the Kargul and Pawlak Museum was established in the city, entirely devoted to the cult saga. However, it started with the creation of the local newspaper “Sami Swoi”, whose editors started collecting film memorabilia. The National Comedy Film Festival has also been organized in Lubomierz for years.
The Kargul and Pawlak Museum is located on the market square. Its seat is one of the oldest buildings in Lubomierz, built in the 16th century, the so-called House of Canvas Workers. At the entrance, visitors are greeted by Kargul and Pawlak, and inside you can see souvenirs not only related to Sylwester Chęciński’s films, but also to other productions made in the city. – It’s a rifle “out of which the lock falls” or a fence over which the Kargula and Pawlak family sometimes make up and sometimes argue. they can see in our museum original film costumes of actors from three parts – said Bogusław Chrzan, director of the Lubomierski Cultural Center, in an interview

Not only Lubomierz. Film Krużewniki is Dobrzykowice near Wrocław
Lubomierz, however, is not the only place on the map of Poland that fans of “Samy Sami” should visit. The traces of Kargul and Pawlak will also lead them to Dobrzykowice, a village located only 14 km east of Wrocław. In the years 1966-1976, the trilogy was shot there. This is where the farms of the feuding neighbors are still located.
The houses are in private hands. In 2000, a foundation was established in Dobrzykowice, the aim of which is to renovate the building located at 18 Szkolna Street, a film farm. Currently, there is a memorial room there, where items known from the film are exhibited. – I hope that I will live to see the renovation of this entire historic complex – said the owner of the house in an interview
