The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Juan Carlos Mathews, presented the highest distinction held by a tourist resource in Peru, called Hierarchy 4, to the Chan Chan Archaeological Complexlocated in La Libertad, which marks a milestone in the development of tourism in the region.
By obtaining this distinction, the Chan Chan Archaeological Complex is qualified as an exceptional tourist resource and of great significance for the international tourist market. Furthermore, it is capable of motivating a significant flow of visitors on its own. “It is equivalent to a resource with unique qualities and characteristics in the world, at the level of Machu Picchu, the Nazca lines or the Amazon River,” indicated the head of Mincetur.
The delivery of Hierarchy 4 was formalized through Vice-Ministerial Resolution No. 052-Mincetur/VMT and after the Regional Government of La Libertad presented the supporting documents to Mincetur.
Minister Mathews asserted that the delivery of Hierarchy 4 to the Chan Chan Archaeological Complex It allows Mincetur to define strategies and prioritize actions to develop the tourism potential of this destination through investment projects.
