Members of the Neo-Nówka cabaret appeared on Monday’s edition of the “WojewódzkiKędzierski” podcast, where they talked to the host about one of their most famous and most controversial skits.

On February 19, Roman Żurek, Michał Gawliński and Radosław Bielecki appeared in Kuba Wojewódzki’s podcast “WojewódzkiKędzierski”. Members of the Neo-Nówka cabaret devoted part of the meeting to discussing the skit “Christmas Eve”, which has attracted nearly 40 million views on YouTube alone.

The starting point for the conversation was a quote quoted by Kuba Wojewódzki: “And in the end I have PiS and Platform. They, even families, have quarreled.” These words were spoken at the end of the skit by a father having a discussion with his son. “It was supposed to be strong. We did it on purpose,” Radosław Bielecki said in Wojewódzki’s podcast.

Roman Żurek, however, stated that the above-mentioned issue was intended to prove that cabaret artists criticize only one side of the political dispute. “It was not about support for any party, but about showing what we feel and which feelings were confirmed by people’s reactions, by what they themselves feel,” he said, adding that the ovations during the performance of “Christmas Eve” often interrupted the performance even for few minutes.

In the past, Roman Żurek suggested to his colleagues that they change the ending of the skit to a more optimistic one, i.e. one in which the quarreling family members reach an agreement. Radosław Bielecki, however, did not agree to this proposal, answering briefly “No way”.

The Neo-Nówka Cabaret was established in 2000 on the initiative of Wrocław students. Skits prepared by comedians mainly cover socio-political topics.
