Maciej Grzybowski is dead. The actor’s death was announced by the Wojciech Bogusławski Theater in Kalisz, with which the artist had been associated for many years. “It is with great sadness that we inform you that today a director, a teacher, a long-time director and, above all, a wonderful, much-lamented actor – Maciej Grzybowski, passed away. A wonderful man and the good spirit of our theater,” we read on Facebook. “At the age of 23, he made his debut in Kalisz in the play ‘Henry VI on the Hunt’. He said goodbye to the stage with the role of Norman in ‘On the Golden Pond’ almost 60 years later. Maciej, it was an honor to work with you in one team,” write the actor’s relatives.

Krystian Kinastowski, the mayor of Kalisz, also expressed regret over the artist’s death. “An excellent actor and director, one of the most characteristic figures of the Kalisz theater scene,” writes the city mayor about the actor. “Our city has suffered a great loss by losing an outstanding citizen,” he adds.
Grzybowski was born in 1942 in Łowicz and graduated from the Acting Department of the National Film School in Łódź. At the age of 22, he made his debut on the stage. He started his career in Kalisz, with the Teatr im. He was associated with Bogusławski for most of his life. He also collaborated with the New and Powszechny Theaters in Łódź.

He appeared on the big screen in 1968 in the film “Przygoda z piosenk±”, where he played the role of Michel, then he played the episodic role of Lucjan Zadrożny in the series “Doktor Ewa”. Small roles in episodic productions stayed with him for a long time. The actor starred in the most popular Polish series, such as “Samo Życie”, “Klan”, “Na Wspólnej”, “Plebania”, “Agata’s Law”, “Commissioner Alex”, “Korona Królów”, “Na dobre i na evil” and “M like love”.
In the early 1980s, he also appeared in the cast of the film “Pani Kleks’ Academy”. One of his last roles was in the fictionalized documentary “Opiekun”, where he played the role of priest Eryk Kordecki. Dariusz Regucki’s film premiered in 2023.
