Some people love it, others hate it – mathematics. This is one of those subjects that students, and sometimes their parents, shudder to think about. What it comes from? – This is a very individual issue – says Anna Stęrzewska, known online as “Ania od mathmy”, in the “We’ve got time” program. Mathematics is controversial for many reasons, which we discussed in today’s episode. One of them is also tutoring, or rather the price for additional lessons. “Ania od mammy” admitted in one of her TikTok videos that she charges PLN 200 for them… and that’s how it all started. The video went viral and the number of comments continued to grow. During the conversation, Ania explains what this amount is.

Is it possible to achieve success and build over 200,000? online audience through math translation? It’s possible, and “Ania od Matama” is an example of this. As it turns out, not only students, but also their parents follow Ania and gain knowledge from her profile. We ask the mathematician what accounts for her success on the Internet.
I simplify a lot of things. I do not teach mathematical theory in difficult language. Students sometimes tell me that they feel like someone is speaking to them in Chinese in class. I try to explain it in peasant terms. I also try to make various stories – I’m talking about Grażynki, here I build some fences, here there are crosses, there are butterflies flying. I think it’s also much more attractive to students.

Some time ago, “Ania od mammy” caused a lot of controversy on the Internet when she admitted that she charges PLN 200 for one tutoring lesson. What does this amount come from? Ania revealed this in an interview with us. – When I was 11, I started explaining mathematics to my sister, so I have over 20 years of experience. The price is also due to the fact that I invest in my development. It’s not like I learned mathematics 20 years ago and I don’t do anything else, because the world is also changing.
I also tutor legally, so I don’t miss out on taxes and other various things. My business is also at a higher level than such tutors who are just starting out, because I have built a learning platform called “Pi times the door”, where you can learn mathematics from courses
