Michał Gazda, who is responsible not only for the new adaptation, but also for the hit “Wataha”, has started working on another project. This time he decided to prepare something for fans of dark stories, adapting the first part of the famous series of ethno-crime stories by Małgorzata Fugiel Kuźmińska and Michał Kuźmiński.
The series “Śleboda” is being created on behalf of the SkyShowtime platform, which has been developing more and more dynamically for several months, becoming a competition for the streaming giant. – I am glad that a year after starting our operations in Central and Eastern Europe, we can announce the first Polish original series, which will be produced on our order – Kai Finke, representing the website. – This is an important step for us as we want to mark our commitment to providing our audiences with high-quality local content – he added. At this moment, the production is shrouded in strict secrecy. It is not known which stars will grace the cast or when the premiere date is planned.
Not only the dark secret of Podhale. What will the series “Śleboda” by Michał Gazda for SkyShowtime be about?
The plot of “Śleboda” will focus on the character of a young doctor of anthropology, Anka Serafin. One day he will decide to leave Krakow and go to the Tatra Mountains, where he will look for his own identity. Instead of traveling deep into himself, he will find a massacred corpse in the Dry Water Valley. The murdered person turns out to be an old highlander, Jan Śleboda, whose tragic fate will lead her step by step to discovering the history hidden by the inhabitants of Podhale. In an independent investigation, he will join forces with tabloid journalist Sebastian Strzygoń, with whose help he will try to discover who the murderer is and what price the highlanders are willing to pay for the titular sleboda, i.e. freedom.
