Loraldia wants to show “a way of looking at the world”

The Bilbao festival Loraldiaa meeting point for culture created in Basque, will bring together more than 120 creators from different disciplines in its tenth edition, which will take place in the capital of Biscay between the 1st and 23rd of next March.
Under the motto “Munduari begiratzeko modu bat” (A way of looking at the world), the festival has scheduled this year 28 theatrical, literary, musical and audiovisual activities, among others, and on many occasions with a fusion of various disciplines.
Notable authors such as Kirmen Uribe, Jon Sarasua, Lorea Agirre, Miren Narbaiza, Toti Martinez de Lezea, Mikel Urdangarin, Nerea Arrien, Jon Maia, Rafa Rueda and Patxo Telleria will participate in the festival, along with emerging talents such as Araitz Katarain, Izaro Bilbao, Iñigo Xalbador, Janire Arrizabalaga, Amaiur Luluaga and Eñaut Zubizarreta.
Loraldia, which will have its own productions and projects created exclusively for this festival, will premiere the work “Gorputzaren atzean” on March 3 at Azkuna Zentroa, promoted by this festival with a scholarship in 2022. It is a piece that mixes theater with dance and the audiovisual, and that unites the digital world with the analogue.
Also new, Loraldia has organized a “cultural walk” for March 16, under the title “Goroldirik ez. Andreak eraztun berdean”, which will consist of a guided route through the mountains in which the opportunity to learn about the lives of several women from Bilbao, in a mix of nature and culture that will also have musical animation.
On March 17, Loraldia will repeat the activity that intertwines music, literature and bertsolaritza: Iban Zaldua will write a text to which Ibil Bedi will set music and Miren Artetxe and Alaia Martin will recite several bertsos, under the guidance of Amaia Agirre.
Another fusion, in this case of folklore, jazz, classical music and literature, will take place on March 5 at the Bidebarrieta Library with “Sustraien Matxinada”.
Among other musical activities, Jean Mixel Bedaxagar will present his sixth album, ‘Erresiñula kantari’, on March 16 at the maritime museum, and Jon Maia will perform his work ‘Kantu berri bat gara’ in a concert on March 23 at the Euskalduna Palace.
Talks about the future of Basque, book presentations, a podcast, humorous performances and dance performances are other activities scheduled for the tenth edition of Loraldia, along with the screening of the feature film “Bizkarsoro”, by Josu Martinez.
