The singer’s father was a white-skinned Jamaican, he had British roots, and on a daily basis he worked as a land supervisor and captain of the royal navy. This was not without significance for his peers, who harassed him from an early age. However, he was not discouraged by numerous comments, and developed his own philosophy, which he later tried to spread in his songs. – I am not on the side of whites or blacks. I am on God’s side – in one of the interviews.

Not only skin color and origin did not matter to him. He also emphasized that material things do not define him as a person. He grew up in the slums, experienced poverty, and this meant that he didn’t need anything other than health to be happy. – Owning things makes you rich? I don’t attach importance to it. Life is my wealth, forever and above all, he declared.
