What cannot be transported in a passenger car? It is better to check which items, according to road traffic regulations, should under no circumstances be included in the car’s equipment. Drivers risk not only a fine, but even the loss of their registration certificate.

Many drivers do not realize that road traffic law determines more than just issues related to the basic equipment of the car. The regulations also include items that cannot be transported or installed in a car.

What is the mandatory car equipment in 2024? Failure to do so may result in a fine

Drivers are obliged to use equipment registered in Poland according to Art a working fire extinguisher and a warning triangle and illuminated, properly installed and legible license plate. In the event of a road check, the driver may be subject to a fine for failure to transport or incorrect transport, the amount of which depends on the scale of the offense. This ranges from PLN 20 for not having a fire extinguisher or warning triangle to up to PLN 500 for covering or decorating license plates or placing license plates in a place not intended for this purpose. Unlike in other countries, a first aid kit or a reflective vest are not required items that must be included in the vehicle.

In the road traffic section you will also find a detailed explanation of the items that cannot be transported or installed in the road. During a routine inspection, if a police officer notices an item in the car that is considered “a threat to road safety”, he may fine the driver and, in some cases, lose his registration certificate.

These items should not be in the car cabin, in the trunk or under the hood.

  • Anything is considered dangerous sharp, pointed and protruding objects. These include: baseball bats, machetes or axes.
  • Devices that may intercept or interfere with the operation of control and measurement equipment, i.e. the so-called radar detectors. This is what Art. 66 section 4 point 4 of the Road Traffic Law. In this case, you may face not only a ticket, but also a fine ranging from PLN 20 to even PLN 3,000. zloty.
  • According to the regulations, it is also prohibited to equip a car with light or sound signals intended for emergency vehicles. In this case, you may face not only a fine, but also the initiation of court proceedings.
  • Drivers are also not allowed to equip their car with the parts they will have negative impact on the natural environment. This may result in a fine of up to PLN 300.
