They threatened him with court, then he was released. Makłowicz talks about returning to TVP

Robert Makłowicz left Telewizja Polska amid a scandal. Since then, he has been running his own program on the Internet. Given the ongoing changes, can we expect it to return to TVP? Makłowicz has a clear position on this matter.

Robert Makłowicz has been presenting culinary programs on Polish Television for almost 20 years. He started his career with the public broadcaster in 1998 as the host of “Robert Makłowicz’s Culinary Travels”. In 2008, the critic started the program “Makłowicz w traveling”, which this time was broadcast on Dwójka television.

Cooperation with TVP was going well until Robert Makłowicz was asked to appear in the station’s advertising spot. The critic did not agree to read the finished text, but said a few words off the top of his head to the camera. However, only a fragment of a broader statement appeared in the edited material, which gave the impression that Robert Makłowicz was advertising the entire station, not just the program he hosted. The journalist opposed this practice and was consequently fired from TVP. After finishing their cooperation, he started his own YouTube channel.

Makłowicz about returning to Polish Television

Due to changes in public media, many journalists decided to return to Telewizja Polska. Robert Makłowicz, however, announced that he had no such intention. “Everything is possible, but I don’t plan to return to Polish Television. I certainly don’t intend to move my program there. I don’t rule out that someday, something, somewhere, maybe, by the way, occasionally… But I’m a YouTuber and that’s great” – said Robert Makłowicz in an interview with Jastrząb Post. The critic also admitted that running a channel on the Internet is very convenient for him. “Action-reaction, more frequent premieres, reach, freedom. I decide how long the episode will last,” he added.
