In an interview with Wirtualna Polska, he revealed what was the reason for this sudden decision.
Tomasz Marzec explains why he left “7.30” after a week
He was supposed to be a reporter at “19.30”, later – perhaps – the scope of his duties could change. However, as long as there is revolution and chaos in Polish Television, all arrangements seem provisional. Tomasz Marzec says that he “expected chaos and found chaos” – as in every place that is going through a difficult process of change. However, the change does not explain the thorough interference in the reporting material, which was what happened to the journalist.
This was the direct reason for leaving TVP after eight days. (…) I left after a very sharp exchange on a topic that was fundamental to me – the limits of the publisher’s interference in the reporter’s material. I reported my doubts to Paweł Płuska and Grzegorz Sajór, and in response I received a less than elegant suggestion – let’s call it that – that I should quit. So I quit. That’s it – said Tomasz Marzec in an interview with Wirtualna Polska.
The interference with the material was the last cause, the last straw. Tomasz Marzec also mentions the lack of a work plan, which means that the produced materials are not later broadcast on the main channel and nothing is done to minimize such risk. The sense of transience currently dominates TVP. “If there is a plan and it starts to be implemented ‘in March’, ‘when Minister Sienkiewicz goes to the European Parliament’, or ‘after the end of President Duda’s term of office’ (…) – broadcasting some transitional version of programs may result in the loss of the remaining credibility of public media ” – continues Marzec.
At the beginning of February, Tomasz Marzec was supposed to sign the outstanding contract and the notice of termination at the same time. His first materials appeared in “19.30” in December 2023.
