Eric Idle from the Monty Python group admitted that he was struggling with financial problems. The 80-year-old actor still works for a living, but as he claims, writing is “what he likes the most.”

Artists’ pensions are a topic widely commented on in the Polish media. Majka Jeżowska, Maryla Rodowicz and Rudi Schuberth recently talked about low benefits. However, not only Polish but also foreign stars complain about financial problems. Among them was Eric Idle, an actor known from Monty Python.

As recently reported by the BBC, the star of the television comedy series “Monty Python’s Flying Circus”, Eric Idle, has sold his house. “I don’t know why people always assume we are rich. I never imagined that at this age our income streams would decline so catastrophically,” the actor wrote on social media. However, he emphasized that he was not worried about financial problems. “I don’t mind that I’m not rich. I’d rather be funny.”

Although the 80-year-old comedian is still professionally active, he does not feel overloaded with paid work. “I got involved and I write. This is what I do and what I like the most. Creating a new show. Something that seems completely normal to me. I’ve been doing it since 1963. I learned a lot,” he wrote on social media. The actor and member of the Monty Python group currently lives in Los Angeles. In 2022, he announced that he had pancreatic cancer.

The Monty Python group was founded in the late 1960s in England. The band included Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin.
