[…] I buried my gay identity deep and for many years. Even when someone suggested something to me, I firmly stood by the fact that I was straight and a “fuck of”! I believed very much in my heterosexuality, he admitted.
– I turned 38 in January, and for the first time I ended up in bed with a guy in his thirties. Previously, I was in a relationship with a woman for many years, I was even fiancé. I was loved, happy and fulfilled. That’s how I thought I felt at the time. Because my head, my body and my emotions were three separate, uncalibrated entities, he admitted.

Later in the conversation, he admitted that coming out in Poland is still a big act of courage for many people. Apart from environmental considerations, his decision to hide his true sexual orientation was also influenced by his situation at home. He admitted that he deceived himself after his brother’s death so as not to disappoint his mother’s expectations.
I just wanted to be accepted and liked, so I did what someone wanted to see, because being homosexual in this country, in a working-class family, where the words “p**ł”, “p****a”, “pedophile” and ” “pervert” are treated as synonyms, it is not a lucky lottery ticket, sorry, but that’s the climate we live in. But while sailing to the dot, I tried to fulfill my mother’s idea of her son and what his life would be like. My brother died in a car accident, so the burden of expectation was heavy. That’s how I lived and I even found some fulfillment in it.
Moreover, the actor admitted that his performance in the play “End with Eddy”, which is performed at the Studio Theater in Warsaw, influenced his coming out. Drummer has been playing the title character for several years, who is a gay man from the French countryside. – I could finally publicly say from the stage: “I am gay,” the actor explained.
