The Netflix hit is heading towards the Oscars. “The Snow Brotherhood” has just received 12 Goya awards – the most important awards of the Spanish film industry. Other critics praise the level of production.

JA Bayona’s film will soon compete for two Oscars. The work was nominated for best make-up and hairstyles and for best international film. Earlier, however, the production achieved a huge success in Poland during the Goya awards – the most important awards of the Spanish film industry.

“The Snow Brotherhood” was nominated for statuettes in 13 categories, and the creators left the gala with 12 of them. The production was recognized as the best film of the year, Bayona received the title of best director, and Matias Recalt – best new actor. The film was also distinguished for its cinematography, music, sound, editing, set design, costumes, effects and production management.

Bayona’s film delighted audiences around the world. On Rotten Tomatoes, critics rated the work 91 percent on the freshness scale, while audiences rated it 86. “Under the director’s supervision, the entire ensemble shines,” writes Dwight Brown of the National Newspaper Publishers Association. Reviewers emphasize that although Bayona is associated with horror films such as “The Orphanage” or the series “House of Horrors”, he did a great job of balancing the tension in the biographical drama.
