The former Basauritarra bassist of the Basque music group Gatibu, Mikel Caballerodied suddenly this Friday in Mexico, at the age of 57, where he was spending a few days off, according to the Geuria news portal.

Gatibu was created in the summer of 2000, with Alex Sardui as singer, Haimar Arejita on guitar, Gaizka Salazar on drums and Mikel Caballero with bass. Their distinctive feature is that they sing in Basque, but in biscayan. Caballero participated in the ten albums published by the band and in the hundreds of concerts they gave throughout Euskal Herria and beyond.

Caballero left the group in 2022. Previously, he went through groups such as Cartoon Band, Noiz?, Maxia and Insert Beat.

Likewise, he was a member of the supergroup EraBateraalong with Gaizka Salazar (Gatibu), BeƱat Serna (Ken Zazpi) and Jurgi Ekiza (Willis Drummond) with whom he published the album Antipodetan in 2018 and the EP Izpi Galdua in 2021.
