A refrigerator is a device without which it is difficult to imagine life, especially cooking, today. It is used, among other things, to store meat, vegetables and previously prepared dishes. By keeping them there, we don’t have to worry that they will quickly spoil, although of course this does not mean that they will stay fresh indefinitely.
Cooked food and left it on the counter? You better stop doing that
Some dishes or products should be placed in the refrigerator immediately after preparation. Leaving them at room temperature for a long time may promote the growth of harmful bacteria. Does this mean that we can put even hot dishes straight into it? Definitely not. The problem is much more complex than it may seem, because too much food can adversely affect not only the rest, but also the device itself.
Do you put hot dishes in the fridge? You can ruin it
Putting a pot full of hot soup or other dish in the fridge can even lead to the failure of the device, which suddenly has to start operating and cooling much more intensively. The compressor would run at the highest speed until the temperature dropped to an appropriate level, which would not only consume more energy (and therefore result in higher bills), but could also be damaged. This is not the end, however, as hot food can negatively affect the remaining food kept inside. For this reason, you should definitely not put anything hot in it. What about warm things?
Can you put warm things in the fridge? Watch out for this
Sometimes it happens that we do not have time to wait for the dish to cool down on its own enough to be stored in the oven. In such cases, it is worth using tricks that will speed up this process. In winter you can, for example take it out to the balcony first, then put a lid on the pot and place it in the fridge. First, transfer the leftovers from dinner to a jar or container, close it tightly and then put it inside. Also try to divide larger dishes into smaller parts and store them this way. Although they will remain warm, they will not have such a negative impact on the functioning of the device. Still, if you can afford it, sometimes it’s better to wait a while, but preferably no longer than 1-2 hours.
