Cate Blanchett will receive a César of honor from the French Film Academy

The Australian actress has two Oscars under her belt, in 2005 for ‘The Aviator’, by Martin Scorsese, and in 2014 for ‘Blue Jasmine’, by Woody Allen.

Australian movie star Cate Blanchett will receive an honorary Caesar for his entire career on January 25 during the 47th French Film Awards, organizers announced Friday.

Blanchett, 52, will receive that special award for an “absolutely exceptional” career and personality, the network explained. Canal+ and the Academy of French Caesars in a statement.

Cate Blanchett is “a multi-faceted artist, whether in film, television or theater,” that joint statement explained.

Blanchett has two Oscars to her credit, in 2005 for The Aviator, by Martin Scorsese, and in 2014 by Blue jasmine, the Woody Allen.

In addition to being an actress, the Australian star is also a producer. Film production has just ended TAR, directed by Todd Field, and has participated in Guillermo Del Toro’s latest film, Nightmare Alley, which will be released in early 2022.

Blanchett is also rewarded for her commitment “beyond the sets” in favor of “women’s rights or ecology,” the organizers explain.

Blanchett was one of the actresses who organized a campaign against Harvey Weinstein when the sexual harassment scandal that this American producer starred in for years broke out. And in 2018 the Australian actress, who presided over the Cannes Film Festival, walked the red carpet with 81 women of the seventh art in favor of equality.

Additionally, Blanchett is a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

The 47th Caesar Ceremony will take place on January 25 in the Olympia Hall in Paris. (I)
