The French start-up Neoplants decided to change this. Scientists have been working on naturally improving plants that would limit ongoing climate change. This is how a new version of epipremnum aureus was created, called Neo P1. It is a super plant that is designed to capture organic compounds such as formaldehyde, benzene, toluene and xylene from the air. The first of them is emitted from home furniture, the second enters the air from cleaning products, and the remaining two are compounds emitted from paints and adhesives.

Improved epipremnum aureus acts as a natural air purifier. It is so effective that just one plant in a room can replace even several dozen such devices.
Neo P1 is the equivalent of 30 regular potted plants in terms of air purification. It does not store pollutants like a regular potted plant, but converts them into useful metabolites.
