Ewa Wanat buried in the Forest of Remembrance
The journalist’s funeral took place on Monday, January 29, at the Miłostów cemetery in Poznań. The urn with the ashes was placed in the so-called Forest of Remembrance. There are no plaques or tombstones in this part of the cemetery, and the deceased can only be buried in biodegradable urns. In accordance with the journalist’s will, instead of traditional wreaths, mourners financially supported the Institute of Good Death. During the ceremony, Ewa’s sister Wanat said goodbye to her with words from her private notes: “The world is beautiful and it is worth living for a snowflake that melts on your nose, for one smile and a tear, it is worth living, even for one I love you.”
Ewa Wanat has been the editor-in-chief of TOK FM radio since 2003. Later, she took over the position of editor-in-chief and program director of Polish Radio RDC. She created reports and documentaries for TVP1 and TVP2 and cooperated with “Gazeta Wyborcza”. She has also published several books, including “Chuć, i.e. normal conversations about perverse sex”, which she wrote together with sexologist Andrzej Depko. In 2010, she received the Hiacynta Award for “brave, open, and open to social problems” journalism. She has been living in Berlin since 2015.
