One of the last editions of the news program presented the results of surveys regarding support for political parties. The chart shows that Poles most often choose the Civic Coalition and this result has remained unchanged since the last survey. Law and Justice takes second place with a result that is 5 percent lower. However, the situation is slightly different here, support for the party also dropped by 5 percent compared to the previous poll. The podium is closed by Trzecia Droga with a result of 14 percent, which is a 4 percent gain since the last survey.
In “19.30” they showed the results of the survey. The chart is not from TVP, so the viewer fixed the “error”
Depending on political sympathies, reactions to the chart vary. Supporters of the Civic Coalition applaud the data, while PiS voters are sniffing out irregularities on social media. A frame from “7.30” was posted on Twitter by the well-known profile “I watch ‘WiadomoĊci’ because I can’t afford stimulants”, where commenters cannot believe that such a compilation appeared on TVP.
“But how can it be so? Without painted bars? Without manipulation of the Y axis? There used to be times, now there are no times” – writes one of the people under the post, which refers to the times when Polish Television manipulated the presentation of survey data. One of the people notes, however, that despite the changes in TVP, Poles still find it difficult to believe that similar data has stopped being colored.
One of the Twitter users even decided to “fix the mistake” of Telewizja Polska and present what the graph would have looked like during PiS times. It clearly shows that even true data can be easily manipulated, which has been a constant practice of public media. “The stripe should be white and red, with an eagle at the top,” jokes one of the commenters under “new statistics.”
