Twenty-three films will compete for the awards at the Punto de Vista documentary film festival

A total of twenty-three films, twelve feature films and eight short films, will compete for the awards of the eighteenth edition of the international documentary film festival Point of viewwhich will be held in Pamplona from March 11 to 16.

Three more films, these out of competition, complete the Official Section of the festival, which was presented this Tuesday at the Baluarte Auditorium.

Among those who are not eligible for any prize, “Zinzindurrunkarratz”by Oskar Alegria, will open the event, in its “world premiere of the official version of the film, in Basque”, as detailed in a press conference by the artistic director of the festival, Manuel Asín, while ‘Of horses and guitars’, by Pedro G. Romero, will close it.

Alegria “takes a poetic journey through a memory of another time of which only fragments remain. Equipped with his super-8, he returns to the trails along which his grandparents walked, in the mountains of Artazu, in Navarra, to record the echoes of a world that no longer exists,” explains the festival.

Among the themes addressed in the programming, the first person, family and historical memory, gender and identity issues, migration policies, the climate and environmental emergency, human diversity and other species stand out.

The award for Best Film is worth 10,000 euros; the Best Direction, with 5000 euros; the Best Short Film, with 3000 euros; The special audience award for Best Film is worth 1,650 euros and the youth award for Best Film is worth 1,500 euros.

The Official Section will offer five world premieres (absolute), three international (the film has only been screened before in its country of origin), one European and twelve premieres in the Spanish State, in a selection from the nearly 800 films that were registered.
