The Film Academy has shared a statement in which it shows their “solidarity” with victims of sexual violence and “condemns” any abuse that occurs in the industry and reiterates that sexual violence at the Goya Awards, which will be held next February 10 in Valladolid, “has no place.”

“Sexist attitudes, abuses of power and violence against women, which can take very different forms, are present transversally throughout society, and the audiovisual sector is no exception,” says the Academy, after thecase of Carlos Vermutaccused of sexual violence by three alleged victims.

The institution also shows its “rejection” of sexual abuse and supports “the need to continue reporting any situation of this type”. “The Academy will make visible at the Goya Awards ceremony, which will be held in Valladolid on February 10, the demand that sexual violence and abuses of power have no place in the world of cinema or in society as a whole.
