Various exhibitions

In Cuenca

A look at gender roles, at machismo, racism and other different forms of discrimination is what Diana Gardeneira does in her solo show And how are we to cook?, which brings together works worked this year by the artist, and in which she uses textiles to highlight these themes. The title of the exhibition refers to the question that the journalist Andrés Carrión asked Neisi Dajomes, winner of the Olympic gold in Tokyo 2021, in a televised interview in Ecuador. In the same way, the names of the works come from real insults that the artist uses as denunciation and emotional catharsis. The exhibition will be open until December 22 at the Emergency Exit, La Condamine 13-10 and Bajada del Vado (Cuenca). This Saturday at 11:30 and Sunday there will be a guided tour.

In Guayaquil

The artist Ricardo Coello Gilbert presents his exhibition The end of all certainties. In this exhibition he brings together works that he has been working on since 2019, in which he captures his poetic and “triumphant” gaze on nature. Stories, landscapes and fragmentations is the proposal that contains works by the Argentine-Ecuadorian painter Ariel Dawi, based in Cuenca. The exhibition collects the work of this renowned colourist, intimate and dreamlike painter, who bases his proposal on literature, cinema and everyday life. It is a set of large-format works, mostly landscapes very close to abstraction, which merge expressionism with neo-figuration. The blur, perspective and formats offered on this occasion allow us to appreciate the creative force of his craft; meanwhile, the composition and color place it in a prominent place in current national art.
