15 days ago the carnival atmosphere began to flood the homes of lovers of this musical contest, since there are very few who have been able to experience it firsthand so your tickets fly quickly. Thus, COAC 2024 faces a new phase in which many groups are left out. Those who continue, however, will see their scores to zero. They start on equal terms in the final stages of the competition.

The Carnival of Cádiz crosses, like every year, the borders of the festive and cultural to become a phenomenon that attracts thousands of tourists and the COAC at the Gran Teatro Falla is not short either. This year began Saturday February 10, with the proclamation by Juan Manuel Braza Benítez ‘El Sheriff’, and will end on Piñata Sunday, which will be February 18. In view of one of the most traditional festivals in Spain, a new edition of the Official Competition of Carnival Groups (COAC) takes place at the Gran Teatro Falla, which has already passed the preliminary phase and without any rest, the seven sessions of the quarter finals.

It should be noted that this Friday, January 26, the quarterfinals begin and will take place for seven days after the preliminaries, until February 1. Then the semifinals will take place and before moving on to this next step, there will be three days of rest, since the semifinals will take place from 4 until February 7.

After session 17 of the first phase of the COAC, the scores awarded by the official jury of the contest were closed and as established by the regulations, only the 32 groups with the highest scores will pass. After performing the troupe ‘The Chirigotera’in charge of closing the preliminaries of the contest, the jury has announced who passes and who stays at the doors of the second of the four knockout phases.
