“Forrest Gump” is a cult and generally beloved film. However, it should be remembered that it is also a film adaptation of the book and, as is often the case in Hollywood, it is not as faithful to the original. As we remember, in the movie, the entire love story of Jenny and Forrest ends with them getting married and Forrest Jr. meets his dad. Unfortunately, Jenny falls ill and dies prematurely, but Forrest can take care of his son. A bittersweet ending, but the main character feels loved and accepted. In the book it turned out completely different – Jenny does not die, but marries someone else. Ultimately, Forrest doesn’t have anything to do with his son, which is rather depressing.
The cult film “Seven” was supposed to end differently. As we remember, in the version that eventually hit theaters, a detective played by Brad Pitt discovers in the middle of the desert that the murderer John Doe (Kevin Spacey) killed his wife and sent him her head in a box to the desert. This leads him to shoot the killer while Morgan Freeman reads a quote from Hemingway in the background.
The creators considered several other versions. In one, Morgan Freeman’s character stops his friend from shooting, in another he shoots instead of his friend. In yet another, there was supposed to be a dead dog in the box, and there was even one in which, after the detective pulled the trigger, there was supposed to be a cut right away.
