Cezary Tomczyk, Deputy Minister of National Defense, informed on the X website that soldiers of the Warsaw Garrison and its subordinate units are exempt from obtaining knowledge only from public media. The order mainly concerned .
Polish Soldiers exempted from watching TVP Info. General Głąb’s order was rescinded
“I would like to inform you that the commander of the Warsaw Garrison, in consultation with the Minister of National Defense, revoked the order that obliged soldiers in subordinate units to obtain knowledge only from public media, in particular TVP Info,” Tomczyk reports.
“Censorship is prohibited in Poland,” emphasizes the deputy head of the Ministry of National Defense and adds that knowledge is a human right. The change concerns the order of the commander of the Warsaw Garrison, Brigadier General Robert Głąb, reference number 1587/16. The general gave a clear order.
“I recommend that the basic source of information obtained from the media in everyday business activities be public television programs, in particular TVP Info,” was the text of Głąb’s order from eight years ago.
A letter about the repeal of the orders was sent to over 30 units
The order given to the soldiers ceased to be valid thanks to the commander of the capital’s garrison, General Tomasz Dominikowski, who revoked the order. As reported by TVN24, the letter was addressed to over 30 units subordinated to him.
“A general with such servility should also take a break from service,” writes one of the commenters on Tomczyk’s post. “It’s hard to believe”, “unheard of” – those who follow the profile of the deputy minister of the Ministry of National Defense on X are surprised. However, the post also included single voices defending General Głąb. “My political science professor taught me that an officer should be partisan, but not apolitical, i.e. he should have his own views,” we read online.
