Fragments of Basque literature in French and English, to search for translations and visibility
The Etxepare Institute for the dissemination of Basque has presented today in San Sebastián basquebooks.eus, “an instrument to disseminate literature in Basque internationally and promote its translations.”
The website is in English, and collects different extracts from literary works in Basque with the double objective of “helping Basque writers, editors and literary agents in the sale of the translation and publishing rights of their works” and “offering the public “a photograph of literature in Basque”.
The portal offers fragments in English and French of literary works in Basque that have not been translated into those languages.
The books are organized into the categories of fiction and non-fiction, as well as other categories such as children’s and youth literature, poetry, novels and essays.
The file for each book offers information in English about the work and its author, as well as a passage from the book translated into English or French and ready to download (fragments, poems…) as well as complementary information (editorial, number of pages , ISBN).
