Unfortunately, it turns out that practicing it in Poland is not legal.

Winter swimming. How does it affect health?

There are many health benefits of winter swimming. Doctors compare, among others: for cryotherapy used in multiple sclerosis. Immersing in ice water increases the body’s immunity, hardens the body, improves the efficiency of the cardiovascular system, and improves circulation. It improves blood circulation in the skin and affects its faster regeneration.

All this is important for the appearance. Regularly practicing sports can help fight cellulite and accelerate fat burning. Smoothes and firms the skin. However, before you start practicing this sport, you should consult your plans with your doctor.

Is winter swimming illegal in Poland?

In Poland, winter swimming is practiced from autumn to spring – most often in groups. Recently, Jan Broda, the mayor of the Komorniki commune, located near PoznaƄ, pointed out that winter swimming is not regulated by law. At the same time, immersing in water in winter breaks the regulations of applicable water law. The regulations indicate that you are allowed to use water reservoirs only from June 1 to September 30.

Residents of the Komorniki commune asked the mayor to designate places that can be legally used for winter swimming. Jan Broda, in turn, submitted a petition to the parliamentary committee requesting that municipal councils be able to designate winter swimming seasons and define the rules for using them during this time. The regulations will help protect places where animals live and areas where protected plant species grow.
