Soon, when the snow melts, we will see a sea of dog poop on the squares and lawns. Unfortunately, owners have a questionable approach to the obligation to clean up after their guests, but in some European countries an interesting and unusual solution to this problem has appeared.

Dog excrement in the city is a big problem, and insubordinate owners are difficult to deal with. In Poland, there is an obligation to clean up after cleaning, but unfortunately not every owner complies with it. The innovative solution is already available in some countries, and Italy is also planning to introduce it. The police will be able to reach the owner of the animal after its poop. How? The method seems intriguing.

What are the penalties for not cleaning up after your dog? The regulations are clear

According to the law, the owner may be fined PLN 500 for failing to clean up dog excrement. Only disabled people and owners of service dogs are exempt from the cleaning obligation. However, imposing a penalty on an animal guardian is not as easy as it may seem. He must be caught red-handed, and the police and city guards must have irrefutable proof, i.e. confirmation that the feces definitely belongs to a specific animal. It used to be almost impossible to confirm this fact, but this will soon change.

Do you have to clean up after your dog? A new way to catch irresponsible owners

Italy has introduced an obligation to register the DNA of animals, and if the owner does not fulfill this obligation, he will pay a fine of up to EUR 1,048. This is a reaction to irresponsible dog owners who do not clean up the excrement of their pets. Italian police will be able to collect dog poop, test it, and the DNA will show who the dog belongs to. The project also operates in Great Britain, Israel and Spain, and has been piloted in the Czech Republic.
