The “MeToo” movement initiated by American stars has created a forum for discussion about sexual abuse in the world of cinema and beyond. Many women are only now deciding to talk about their traumatic experiences, seeking support and justice for what happened to them in the past.
Segda was harassed by a co-star
The victim of molestation was Dorota Segda, who made her debut in the film industry at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s. Then, on the set of “My 20th Century”, she met a famous actor, Oleg Jankowski, with whom she played several erotic scenes. The star of Soviet cinema strived at all costs to transfer film familiarity to reality. “He called himself “the history of Soviet cinema”. Then I experienced “MeToo”… What wasn’t he doing? He broke into the villa where I lived through the window. The owners did not react to what was happening. Maybe they thought it was normal customs between actors, male-female games on film sets,” said the actress in “Tygodnik Powszechny”.
Deprived of support, Segda had to cope on her own: “I reacted ad hoc. I didn’t let him touch me. I hit him on the paws and face, but it didn’t help much. I guess that’s what he wanted,” she reported. The actress did not talk about her painful memories for many years. She would do things differently now. “I still can’t believe that I didn’t go to the producer and tell him that if this guy touches me again, I’m leaving the set and not coming back,” she added.
The “MeToo” movement was started by Alyssa Milano, who, thanks to her entry on the website X, encouraged other women to share their unpleasant experiences.
