For many years, it was identified with torment and giving up sweet pleasures. Some time ago this myth was debunked. When losing weight, you do not need to completely detox your body from chocolate. You can consume it, but within common sense. What quantity are we talking about? Michał Wrzosek, PhD, dietitian, who works as a clinical and sports dietitian, spoke.
Can you eat chocolate on a diet? Follow one rule
Michał Wrzosek added a video on his Instagram profile explaining how much chocolate you can eat on a diet. First of all, we should choose products with the highest possible cocoa content, e.g. 85%. The more cocoa, the less sugar. However, this does not change the fact that chocolate is a very high-calorie product. 100 g of chocolate has as much as 600 kcal. For comparison, 1 kg has the same number of calories. The dietitian advised that chocolate should be consumed in moderation. 80-90% of the calories in our diet should come from minimally processed food. The remaining 10-20% can be spent on treats. Apart from this rule, you must stick to a negative calorie balance. Then it is possible to lose weight without giving up sweets.
How many cubes of chocolate can you eat per day? This amount will provide you with magnesium
According to Wrzosek, eating 30 g of chocolate is enough to improve your mood. A cube of classic dark chocolate weighs 6 g, so in practice, five cubes can make us happy and satisfy our need for something sweet. Good taste is not the only advantage of chocolate.
Its appropriate amount has a positive effect on our body. – Over the last 10 years, more and more research has confirmed that moderate consumption of dark chocolate and cocoa may contribute to reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases. When consuming 3-4 cubes of chocolate, it provides adults with 7-8% of the daily requirement for magnesium. – Ph.D. health sciences Regina Wierzejska.
