The “Game of Thrones” star talks honestly about rehab. “I found myself in the right place at the right time”

Kit Harrington’s greatest fame came as Jon Snow in the hit “Game of Thrones.” The star has now decided to reveal the details of his private life. In the “Hidden 20%” podcast, he said that due to his addiction and illness, he was far from the heroism of the character he played in the HBO bestseller.

The series “Game of Thrones” based on the saga of the novel by George RR Martin has permanently entered the annals of pop culture. For 8 seasons from 2011 to 2019, fans of the fictional world of Westeros lived the fate of their favorite characters, and for some of the actors the production was a ticket to great fame. One of the beneficiaries of the series’ great fame is Kit Harrington, who played the role of Jon Snow. For more news from the world of film stars, visit the home page.

Rehab changed everything. He rediscovered himself

While working on the last season of “Game of Thrones”, Harrington informed his fans about the fight against his “demons” and promised to start therapy right after the end of the filming. But now he made the most honest confession of his life. As a guest of the “Hidden 20%” podcast, he shared with the program’s host, Ben Branson, his struggle with alcoholism and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD, formerly the so-called obsessive-compulsive disorder from the group of anxiety disorders). He also informed that during rehab he was diagnosed with another diagnosis – attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

I realized that my life depended on it. Fortunately, it was the right place at the right time. I managed to build a new life there

– he told the host and the listeners.

He also shared his previous experiences with the therapies he has undergone so far. “I went to rehab drunk, got sober and thought: ‘F…, there are different people among me than I previously thought. No, thank you.’ “I quickly left it and said, ‘I’ll try to deal with it myself,'” but after four years he noticed that he was completely unable to cope with his problems on his own.

Harrington is fed up with comparisons to Jon Snow. In his private life he was something else

The series’ John Snow also revealed that although people saw him as an on-screen hero and a good person, he felt that in his private life he was completely the opposite. Addiction and untreated diseases caused him to distance himself from his iconic role. He’s tired of being compared to the brave character he plays. He also admitted that although the ADHD diagnosis changed his life, it also poses a daily challenge for him, e.g. when playing with his sons every day. An actor quickly gets bored with one activity and has to look for new activities so as not to “destroy the world”.
