He Guggenheim Museum Bilbao presented this Friday the artistic programming of the year 2024. The public will be able to enjoy nine temporary exhibitions and among them you can see the works of the Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara, the Italian Giovanni Anselmo and the Swedish Hilma af Klint.

Likewise, throughout the year you can visit the exhibition Works from the Collection of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbaoa selection of works that show some of the key moments in the history of the second half of the 20th century.

The first of the temporary exhibitions will open on February 9. It will be a retrospective dedicated to the Italian author Giovanni Anselmomember of Art Povera. The artist worked with the Bilbao museum in the preparation of this exhibition, but he died last December. More than 40 works by the author will be shown.

On February 16, a selection of works on Pop Artassembled with funds from the Guggenheim Collection in New York where you can see works by Lichenstein, Warhol, Josephine Meckseper and Niki de Saint Phalle, among others.

Installation chaos theory combining art and design from the Dutch artist duo Metahaven It will arrive at the Film&Video room on February 22 and, in the month of March, the Museum will present the sculptures of the Navarrese artist June Crespoincluding an installation created specifically for the space that will host it.

The summer season will host the samples of the Austrian Martha Jungwirth and the film work of Anthony McCall.

However, at this time the author’s retrospective stands out Yoshitomo Nara, which can be seen starting June 28. More than 250 works will be shown by the artist, one of the best-known Japanese creators of his generation and famous for his characteristic paintings of “girls” that range from “adorable, enigmatic or threatening.”

Autumn will host other of the year’s major exhibitions at the Guggenheim. On October 18, an exhibition of more than 200 works by Hilma af Klinta Swedish abstract art artist who lived between 1862 and 1944, but who has been “discovered” in recent years.

Finally, the artistic program will end with the Hawaiian exhibition Paul Pfeiffer which will open in November. Pfeiffer was a pioneer in the use of video and in this exhibition you can see both early works and more recent works that “eliminate the barriers between photography, installation and sculpture.”
