Pablo Berger, Lucía Lacarra and Chillida-Leku, Gold Medals of Fine Arts

The Bilbao filmmaker Pablo Berger, the Zumaia dancer Lucía Lacarra, the Vitorian designer Modesto Lomba and the Chillida-Leku museum are some of the 37 recipients of the 2023 Gold Medals for Merit in Fine Arts, announced this Tuesday by the Spanish minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun.
These awards, whose concession was approved this Tuesday by the Council of Ministers, distinguish “people and entities that have stood out in the field of artistic and cultural creation or have provided notable services in the promotion, development or dissemination of art and culture or in the conservation of artistic heritage”.
Also honored will be the group Estopa, the actresses Gemma Cuervo and Vicky Peña, the actor Luis Zahera, the director Albert Serra, the screenwriter Isa Campo Vilar, the Sorolla Foundation, the Almagro Theater Festival, the presenter María Teresa Campos, the writer Miguel López, the ‘Hematocritic’, the actress Itziar Castro, these last three posthumously.
