Now you must have such a decoder for terrestrial television in 2024. Otherwise you will lose the signal for good

Although the change in the digital television broadcasting multiplex was completed at the end of 2023, many homes still do not have access to popular channels. In this case, a new TV is not necessary, and purchasing an appropriate tuner will be a sufficient solution. We advise you which decoder to choose for terrestrial television in 2024.

The process of introducing digital terrestrial television in Poland started in March 2022, but at that time the multiplex, which included the popular TVP channels, was omitted. However, this situation could not last forever and, as previously agreed, the last of the announced changes were implemented a few weeks ago. Despite the warnings, not everyone complied with the recommendations, as a result of which their receivers lost communication and a message about no signal appeared on their screens. However, there is a way to remedy this.

Free terrestrial television changed the way of broadcasting. How to regain access to popular channels?

The first stage of the transition from MUX-3 to DVB-T2 HEVC started on the night of December 14-15, 2023 and covered nine voivodeships. The changes reached the rest of Poland a few days later, from December 18 to 19, which finally ended the revolution. Almost immediately, a large number of viewers began to complain about the loss of signal and lack of access to popular channels.

For people whose equipment still received programs from competing stations, all they had to do was update the program list by selecting the appropriate option in the menu. The matter has become a bit more complicated for owners of older generation devices that are not adapted to the new technology. However, there are options to be able to use free TV again at a low cost. We tell you how to do it.

Which decoder for terrestrial television 2024? Restore the signal on your TV

Although several weeks have passed since the change of the broadcasting multiplex was completed, many Poles still cannot freely use . This is because their equipment was probably manufactured before 2020, which means that they do not support the DVB-T2 HEVC technology. Contrary to appearances, an older TV model does not mean a complete loss of access to popular channels.

All you need to do is purchase a decoder that supports the DVB-T2 standard, the price of which varies from PLN 100 to PLN 200 depending on the manufacturer. Information about whether the equipment has this currently important function can be found in the product specifications included on the packaging. Importantly, it is not necessary to change the antenna, but many companies recommend that it be located outside the building, which will improve the quality of the received signal.
