Recently, the actor gave many interviews in which he revealed how he prepared for the role. He told Variety that he had to exercise several times a day and gain muscle mass. He gained almost ten kilograms.
This was one of the main goals, and during the preparation, your whole life spins out of control. “The need to be perfect…became an obsession,” Efron said.
Later in the same interview, he stated that he was satisfied with the final results. “I managed to combine old-school bodybuilding with Olympic weightlifting and achieved this specific look of professional wrestlers,” he said, also admitting that thanks to this metamorphosis he was much better at portraying the character.

Many of the actor’s fans also admit that he looks completely different than usual as a young wrestler. In an interview for “The Hollywood Reporter” he admitted that he did not recognize himself on screen in this film. “I wasn’t alike, but in the best way possible. It was annoying at first, but we managed to put it all together,” he admitted.

Other actors playing the Von Erich brothers also had to go through a similar path. “The Bear” star Jeremy Allan White received the role of Kerry Von Erich, and in an interview with “Esquire” he also admitted that preparations for this film were intense. “You try to consume as much as you can, but honestly, you don’t feel good about it,” he said.
The third brother, David, will be played by Harris Dickinson, who recently starred in Ruben Östlund’s famous film “In a Threesome”. The other roles were played by Lily James (“Downton Abbey”), Holt McCallany (“Mindhunter”) and Maura Tierney (“My Beautiful Son”).
