The obituary published online stated that the artist passed away on January 6 at the age of 50. The musician will be buried at the cemetery in Łapy, the funeral will take place on January 9.
Ireneusz Perkowski from Skalara published his memories from the beginnings of the band on Instagram. “I remember the beginnings, when there were big plans, we wanted to be loud about us. And we succeeded, the whole of Poland heard us,” we read in the post. “The first concerts, a new challenge, but we managed. We have a common history that will never die, we have our memories that will always be remembered. Later our paths diverged, each of us went our separate ways, that’s how it was supposed to be, that’s how it was it was written down somewhere. We will meet again, where each of us is, and we will play together on one stage,” adds the creator.
The band Skalar was founded on the initiative of Perkowski and Borek in 1991 in Brańsk. The group released their first cassette “Tell Me” seven years later. The material was extremely popular, and the clip for the title track was recorded in New York, which further fueled interest in the band.
In 1999, Skalar split into two formations. Perkowski emigrated to Chicago, where he founded the band Skalar US, Mariusz Borek and Daniel Jaroszewicz reactivated the Polish group of the same name. In 2009, the album “Kochanek” was released with the hits “Żółty ananas” and “Ramienie”. Three years later, Daniel Jaroszewicz left the formation and created the Skalar’s project.
