The Queen Isabel II has canceled the traditional pre-Christmas lunch which he offers to numerous members of his family as a precautionary measure, the media reported this Thursday.

The sovereign, who remains in Windsor Castle, will not receive relatives, including cousins, at the lunch that she was going to celebrate next Tuesday, after the Government established restrictions due to the strong spread of the omicron variant.

This event is on the sidelines of the lunch that the Queen, 95, celebrates with her immediate family on Christmas Day at the Sandringham residence in eastern England.

In recent months, Elizabeth II has seen forced to cancel multiple events and reduce his workload on the advice of doctors, who asked him to rest.

Among other things, the Queen canceled her attendance at the COP26 climate summit, which took place in Glasgow (Scotland) last November, and the ceremony in memory of those who fell in the World War I held that month in central London.

The UK registered yesterday 78,610 new infections of covid-19, the daily maximum registered so far during the entire pandemic, above the 68,053 infections on January 8. (I)
