Over the years, many people thought “Teleexpress” and immediately associated this name with his face and voice. Maciej Orłości has often used his acting skills as a presenter of “Teleexpress”, after all, he is a graduate of the Theater Academy. Aleksander Zelwerowicz in Warsaw. Many endings of TVP1’s afternoon service from the times when it was hosted by Orłości almost every day have gone down in history. On August 27, 2015, he said goodbye to the viewers of “Teleexpress” with tights in his hand. But what tights were they!
There were many farewells, one special one
He was one of the most recognized and liked faces of TVP. This ended in August 2016. – Today, at the end of “Teleexpress”, I don’t have any funny facts for you. I have to say something quite seriously – this is my last “Teleexpress”, I’m saying goodbye to you. I would like to thank you very much for these over 25 years of meetings in “Teleexpress” and other programs of Polish Television. See you somewhere else – he said goodbye.
Orłości did not hide the fact that he was leaving Telewizja Polska after 25 years for political reasons. He wrote on Facebook that it was the best professional decision of his life and quoted the words of Władysław Bartoszewski: “It is worth being honest, although it does not always pay off. It pays to be dishonest, but it is not worth it.”
I didn’t want to be the face of a television that manipulates viewers, breaks the rules of journalistic ethics, and hurts (some) journalists’ spines.
– he wrote on Twitter on the fifth anniversary of his departure from TVP. “This is being cynically managed by President Kurski, and the authorities, led by President Kaczyński, President Duda and Prime Minister Morawiecki, give their consent. The pro-government propaganda carried out by TVP News or TVP Info is shameful. I hope its end is near,” he explained in 2021.
Maciej Orłości returns to “Teleexpress” – the news should be “honest to the viewer”
Now Maciej Orłości is back. After the break, he is to host “Teleexpress” again. In December last year, Tomasz Sygut, appointed by Minister Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz as the president of Telewizja Polska, confirmed the presenter’s return. – There are emotions, of course positive, because it is a return to a place with which I have been associated for a very long time. Over the last few years, I have been on a different career path, so this return to television is completely non-obvious for me. A lot has happened during this time – commented Orłości in an interview with Onet.
– The program is carried out in unusual, i.e. somewhat makeshift and improvised, conditions. This will probably mean that ‘Teleexpress’ will not be as refined and polished as it could be, but we will certainly strive for it – he announced. – I think that viewers will understand that the most important thing is that this program and others take the right shape – I’m talking about the content. That is, those that are consistent with the journalistic craft and are honest towards the viewer – he added.
Orłości will host the first edition on January 4. For now, “Teleexpress” will be broadcast not from the building of the Television Information Agency in Warsaw’s Square. Insurgents, and from another studio. The sit-in protest of former television employees is still ongoing, opposing the changes in public media introduced by Donald Tusk’s government. When they leave the building, “Teleexpress” will most likely return to its place. Together with Orłoś.
