We also asked the representatives of Żabka Polska about their position. Advertisements of a well-known chain of stores also appeared in Tomasz Sakiewicz’s station. The company’s press office clearly declared: “In the daily activities of the Żabka Group, we clearly define our values, including openness, support for diversity and respect for every person. Therefore, we do not accept racist and xenophobic statements.”
Żabka Polska points out that TV Republika has been included in a larger package acquired from Biuro Reklamy Polsat Media, which is the official advertising broker of TV Republika. “The purchase of currently broadcast campaigns took place last year,” the company emphasizes. Representatives of the company understand that guest statements in live programs are difficult to control, but if they are inappropriate, “they should be met with immediate response from journalists and station management.”
“In the absence of such actions, we will not continue marketing cooperation, because the Żabka brand does not want to be identified with content that is fundamentally opposed to its values,” the company states.
The store chain apparently took the customers’ outrage to heart. “We do not rule out the need to review cooperation in the case of each medium that publishes content on its channels that is contrary to the values of the Żabka Group. We have sent an official letter to TV Republika in this matter,” the Żabka Polska Press Office assures in an e-mail.
