With the arrival of the ship MSK Evora, the Danish shipping company Maersk officially started sailing into the Dubok port of Posorja, which is managed by DP World Posorja. The arrival of the shipping company, one of the largest in the world, was announced at the end of 2023 for the beginning of 2024.
With this, Maersk confirmed its departure from the docks of the sea port of Guayaquil, managed by Contecon, where it stood until last year.
Meanwhile, DP World Posorja reported this Thursday, January 4, that the ship MSK Evora sailed from the port of Shanghai (China), passing through Mexico (the cities of Manzanillo and Lázaro Cárdenas) to Ecuador in the deep-water port of Posorja. The ship has a length (length) of 366 meters, a beam (breadth) of 48 meters and a draft that can reach a depth of 15 meters. Its largest cargo capacity is 13,100 TEU.
The ship Maersk will leave the sea port of Guayaquil in order to operate from Posorje from 2024
However, it is not the first ship of the Danish shipping company to dock at Posorja. On December 6, when the change of shipping company had already been announced, the ship Maersk Edmonton docked in the port operated by DP World Posorja, thus the shipping company postponed the start of work at that port terminal.
Meanwhile, the terminal pointed out that the arrival of this type of vessel, such as the Maersk Evora, is only possible thanks to the characteristics offered by the terminal, which maintains within its distinguishing factors a sea access channel of 21 nautical miles with more than 15 meters of depth and a strategic position on west coast of the South Pacific.
Furthermore, according to DP World Posor, the arrival of Maersk implies the addition of two more shipping services: Ecumed, which strategically connects Ecuador with Europe, and the Guayaquil Feeder regional service, an intra-American route of great commercial value.
“Each service has ships that are between 180 and 366 meters in length, have a capacity of up to 15,000 TEU and will move cargoes of key products for the growth of the country’s economy, such as bananas, faster and more efficiently,” explained the terminal.

Carlos Merino, CEO of DP World Ecuador, highlighted the alliance between DP World Posorja and Maersk, ensuring that it represents important advantages for Guayaquil and Ecuador. “This union ratifies DP World’s commitment to Ecuadorian foreign trade, solidifies the positioning of the capital city of Guayas as an important center logistics in the South American region, as well as the initiation of larger investments in public works with 100% private capital, creating new jobs for Guayaquil and its rural parishes,” he pointed out.
He also stated that the port of DP World Posorja is the second most efficient on the American continent and number 19 in the world, according to the latest data. ranking World Bank.
