“Million March” to defend Jan Pietrzak. An event has been created, but isn’t it a joke?

The world of Polish media is still alive with Jan Pietrzak’s controversial statement regarding immigrants on TV Republika. Although he was ostracized by most parties, there were also defenders of the satirist. There was even an online event in his defense, but the description and the number of willing demonstrators make us look at it with a hint of irony.

The “infamous” statement took place on December 31 on TV Republika, with Jan Pietrzak as a guest. During the broadcast, he made a shocking comment about immigrants, and more specifically, their allocation in Poland. He referred to the shameful practices of Nazi Germany. More information about the world of media can be found on the home page.

“Here I have a cruel joke with these immigrants. They count on Poles being prepared because we have barracks. We have barracks for immigrants in Auschwitz, in Majdanek, in Treblinka, in Sztutowo. We have a lot of barracks built here by the Germans. And we will be there stop these immigrants, forced into us illegally by the Germans,” Jan Pietrzak blurted out in the video without any self-reflection.

Although the vast majority of society condemned his words, there were also his defenders. One of them turned out to be, among others, Michał Rachoń, one of the main faces of the former TVP, and currently the program director of the right-wing television on which the satirist expressed his opinion. Someone from outside the media community decided to defend Pietrzak more vigorously and created an event in his honor on Facebook.

Are you sure? Several layers of irony under the cloak of turbo-patriotism

The “March of a MILLION VOICES in defense of Jan Pietrzak”, as its full name is, is scheduled for February 10. When the article was written, 9 people volunteered to defend the name of the “hero” of the demonstration. However, it cannot be denied that the entire action is full of irony. Anyway, let’s read the description of the event:

“We are defending the good name of our bard of freedom and soon canonized person, Jan Pietrzak. Blessed Jan is a martyr for freedom of speech. The legendary bard of Solidarity was once again taken out of context in his hagiography by the Jewish-leftist forces of Satan for his words on Republika TV; “we have barracks for immigrants, in Auschwitz, in Majdanek, in Treblinka. We will start our MILLION VOICES march by singing the Rota on the day of the next Smolensk monthly anniversary. Please bring candles,” reads the description of the online event.
