The changes in public media have been going on for two weeks and will most likely last for a long time. The first to go was “Wiadomości” TVP1, which was considered by many to be unreliable. The TV news program was replaced by a new news program “19:30”, and TVP Info returned to the screens in a new version after a few days of absence.
More returns on TVP. “Teleexpress” with Maciej Orłoś will return soon
On New Year’s Day, viewers of TV Channel One could watch a special episode of “Hala Odlotów”, which was an announcement of a new opening for culture in public media. And in the coming days, the changed “Teleexpress” is to return, again hosted by Maciej Orłości. The journalist hosted the program from 1991 to 2016.
The portal’s editors contacted him and asked him what emotions he felt when returning to Polish Television. – There are emotions, of course positive, because it is a return to a place with which I have been associated for a very long time. Over the last few years, I have been on a different career path, so this return to television is completely non-obvious for me. A lot has happened during this time – admitted Orłości.
In recent years, the journalist worked mainly on his YouTube channel @MaciejOrlosOfijalnie, where he discussed the most important political events. He believes that working in this medium is completely different from television. – It was hard work. And television is something completely different, it’s not like, colloquially speaking, “hop-siup”, where you jump in after almost eight years as if nothing had happened – he said.
It’s a bit like the situation of a sprinter standing in the starting blocks. The slogan ‘Ready?’ and now we are all waiting for the shot. It’s a very exciting moment that you have to endure to avoid a false start, he joked.
What will the new “Teleexpress” be like? Orłości: Consistent with journalistic craftsmanship and honest towards the viewer
Later in the conversation, he said that he did not use the word “stage fright” because every professional knows how to approach his task. And he talks about his emotions only in relation to the return to “Teleexpress” itself. Later he revealed what the new “Teleexpress” under his command would look like:
The program is carried out in unusual, i.e. somewhat makeshift and improvised, conditions. This will probably mean that ‘Teleexpress’ will not be as refined and polished as it could be, but we will certainly strive for it. I think that viewers will understand that the most important thing is that this program and others take the right shape – I’m talking about the content. That is, those that are consistent with the craft of journalism and are honest towards the viewer.
We would like to remind you that in the building of the Television Information Agency, from which news programs are normally broadcast, there is still a sit-in protest by former TVP employees who are opposing changes in the public media. When they vacate the building, most likely “Teleexpress” will be, as Orłości put it, “pampered” again.
