For the last eight years, “Wiadomości” employees either did not mention the WOŚP finals at all, or – like last year – devoted 13 (!) seconds to the huge collection. The hearts glued on by the “Wiadomości” interlocutors and handed out during the finals, which were erased during the news program, were also widely commented on. Let us remind you that in 2023, the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity collected PLN 243,259,387.25.
Jerzy Owsiak: I thought I chose wrong
After the changes that were introduced in TVP in December and the start of “7:30 p.m.”, those who for years had not been able to learn about the preparations for the WOŚP finale from TVP had such an opportunity. After the end of Tuesday’s edition hosted by Marek Czyż, Owsiak posted an emotional post on social media.
“7.30 p.m. I get a text message: put it on TVP news. I’m nervous, because I haven’t seen it for so many years, and I’m skipping through the remote control… and there it is! I see the Orchestra and the new news ticker “7.30 p.m.”. I thought I had made the wrong choice and with eyes as wide as saucers, I watched it and I’m listening! Cans, equipment, volunteers, a summary of our activities, a poster, even the Mayor of Gdańsk! Finally, a calendar and a finger for January 28!” – Jerzy Owsiak was happy on social media. Then the creator of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity emphasized:
Anyone who wants to can play with us, but many of our compatriots who have so far only watched TVP will at least know when the Final takes place!
“After eight years – thank you Telewizja Polska! What an evening!” – he concluded.
The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity plays the 32nd final
The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity started over 30 years ago on Polish Television and for years it was mainly shown there. For several years, however, TVN has mainly visited the WOŚP studio. During 31 Finals, WOŚP collected nearly PLN 2 billion and purchased 71.5 thousand devices. During this year’s event, approximately 120,000 volunteers will collect money for equipment to help with respiratory diseases. The official goal is: Lungs after the pandemic. We play for children and adults!
The final is scheduled for January 28, 2024. However, you can now take part in official auctions for the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity. The following items have already been put up for auction: a gold record from the film “Znachor” or a performance and dinner with Krzysztof Materna.
