Peperomia flower: characteristics
is a plant that you may also know as “pepper plant”. This is one of those species of potted flowers that has a large group of enthusiasts, but at the same time is not particularly easy to grow. After all, it is not without reason that peperomia is called capricious, which unfortunately often means that in some it will grow beautifully, but in others it will waste away, often even despite the undertaken care activities.

If you want to try your hand at starting your adventure with peperomia, first of all take care of the appropriate position. Some varieties may be more or less sensitive to light, but remember that each of them will need a bright place, but necessarily with a diffused light stream, so that the sun does not accidentally burn their sensitive leaves. In too much darkness, peperomia leaves will become unnaturally elongated and weak.
Another reason for problems with this type of cultivation is its incorrect pattern watering. Unfortunately, it is very easy to overwater peperomia and thus cause its root ball to rot. It is best to water relatively rarely – in cold months it is enough to do it every 2-3 weeks, and in hot weather once a week.

Peperomia loves moist airwhich is why it turns out to be a great decoration for a kitchen or a bright bathroom. Absolutely do not place it near a radiator. To increase the humidity in its surroundings never spray its leaves with waterbecause this may lead to the development of a fungal disease.
There are many varieties of peperomia. It’s up to you which one you choose and introduce into your home.
Peperomia hope: petite and beautiful
Peperomia hope is a variety characterized by small, round leaves of light green color.

Its twigs usually hang from the pot, which makes it even more attractive and stands out from other plants in its family.
Peperomia watermelon: do you see a watermelon?
Peperomia watermelon owes its name to the leaves, which in appearance (shape and decorative patterns) refer to a plump watermelon.

This variety does not hang – each leaf grows upwards, supported by a flexible, burgundy stem. This is not a very popular variety, but it will definitely stand out on your home shelf.
Peperomia obtuse: the green queen
Peperomia blunt-leaf is the basic variant of this plant.
It can be recognized by slightly elongated, dark green leaves (the variegata version will have white or cream markings on them) and small shoots that grow upwards, not exceeding 20-30 centimeters. The leaves, as in the case of other peperomias, are quite thick and fleshy.
Peperomia caperata: the most popular one
Peperomia caperata is nothing else than curly peperomia.

Like other peperomias, it has a compact shape, quite large (though not as large as, for example, peperomia watermelon) egg-shaped leaves. They may also be slightly wrinkled.
Peperomia rosso: spectacular and mysterious
Peperomia rosso is a really spectacular variety of this one. It owes its decorativeness to lanceolate leaves with blood-red undersides. The bigger they grow, the more interesting the flower looks.
Take a look at all the varieties of peperomia listed in the article, and if these are not enough for you, look for others, perhaps less known. Fortunately, there are so many possibilities that every plant enthusiast will surely find something for themselves.
