Zbyszek was not baptized by his parents, and he did not receive his first Holy Communion. “My son was not baptized in the Catholic Church, so he did not go to communion. When other children had religion, he sat on a bench in the cloakroom throughout primary school. There was no ethics, no classes for these children. Instead of communion, we initiated him – a big bonfire, ceremonial cutting of his long hair, he received a gift,” the Nobel laureate recalled.
