There will be a trading ban both on Christmas Eve and this year. What does this mean for traders? Failure to comply with the regulations may result in a fine ranging from PLN 1,000 to PLN 100,000. zloty. On the other side, there are potential customers who wonder whether stores will be open on December 31. And if not, in what direction should you take your steps in a critical situation? Below we suggest where you can shop on New Year’s Eve 2023/24.
December 31 – stores and selected points. Where will you be able to shop?
A few hours before midnight we will do our shopping in a place that is usually open on Sunday with a trading ban. As usual, small local shops with the owner behind the counter and gas stations, but not only them, will be open. On December 31, stores and service points open to customers are:
- pharmacies, pharmacy points,
- flower shops,
- confectioneries,
- bakeries,
- ice cream parlors,
- commercial establishments where the main activity is the trade in souvenirs or devotional items,
- commercial outlets where the main activity is selling newspapers, public transport tickets, tobacco products, coupons for games of chance and betting,
- post offices,
- Internet shops,
- railway stations,
- airports,
- the previously mentioned small shops with the owner behind the counter and gas stations.
Are shops open on New Year’s Eve – how to organize a last-minute party?
Not being invited to a party can be frustrating, but instead of waiting for someone to organize the evening for you, you can do it yourself. It doesn’t have to be a big party for 100 people, just a few close friends or even random people who will be in the same place at the same time. What about catering? Instead of nervously Googling whether stores are open on New Year’s Eve, it’s better to look through your home supplies and invite guests to cook together. After all, the best parties end in the kitchen.
Shops on New Year’s Eve – quick recipes for simple snacks
Without much culinary skills, you can prepare fantastic appetizers in a few minutes, even if the shops are closed, you will certainly be able to organize a buffet table together. Below is an example menu:
- sticks wrapped in Parma ham,
- sandwiches with sun-dried tomatoes (homemade bruschetta),
- mini sandwiches with cucumber, cheese and peppers,
- croutons and melted cheese,
- baked sweet marshmallows,
- cheese sticks,
- stuffed peppers,
- fruit sticks,
- sausages in puff pastry,
- mini pizza based on puff pastry,
- tortilla with whatever is currently left in the fridge.
